The symbolism of the text, reflecting in a broad sense our own desecration of the earth, casts the musical work into a dark, uncomfortable aura. The work is scored for soprano, alto and bass speakers, and an instrumental ensemble. First Performance: University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida (Feb 1980) with Dennis Kam, conducting.
